Director, Thomas Douglas, cleverly merged these two comic operas into one delightful evening! Dueling divas, scheming assistants, and a director at her wit’s end make up the hilarious cast of characters for The Impresario. Set in the early 1970’s, I dove into authentic research, utilizing magazines, photography books, and films made during the era. The Telephone was framed as a show within a show, with the assistants casting themselves in the opera. Being scenographer for the piece I hightened the color contrast between the set and costumes, so the characters really pop.
